Every managed and unmanaged VM or shared hosting service includes a standard SSL certificate. Issuance and activation require domain validation and a correctly configured service.

DV, OV and EV describe the validation performed before a certificate is issued. A paid certificate does not automatically provide stronger encryption.

Organisation Validated
OV adds checks of the organisation’s identity to domain validation.
For projects that require a verified organisation in the certificate.

Extended Validation
EV applies more extensive checks of the organisation and the applicant’s authority.
For organisations with requirements for additional identity assurance.
Upgrades are quoted separately and require the certificate authority’s approval. Validation takes time. No certificate guarantees that a website is safe, fraud-free or compliant.
Setup and responsibility
Know who looks after it.
Novasean supplies the included certificate. Issuance depends on successful domain validation. With managed services, certificate setup and renewal responsibilities are agreed during onboarding.
With an unmanaged VM, your team configures the web server and HTTPS endpoint and maintains the renewal setup. For shared hosting, use the hosting control panel. The certificate entitlement does not include website or server management.
