Start with the exact failure, not a password reset
If Roundcube webmail will not let you in, identify whether a direct mailbox sign-in, a DirectAdmin one-click link or the page after login failed. These routes can fail for different reasons. A working DirectAdmin panel login does not prove that a virtual mailbox password works, and a broken one-click link does not prove that the mailbox password is wrong.
This guide applies when your accepted Novasean service includes a DirectAdmin-hosted virtual mailbox and Roundcube webmail. If your mailbox is hosted by another provider, use that provider’s webmail and recovery process. Stop repeated password guesses, do not accept an HTTPS certificate warning, and never send a password or one-time code to support.
Confirm the mailbox and genuine webmail route
Use the webmail address supplied for the affected service, a trusted bookmark, or a link confirmed through the authenticated Novasean client area. Check the full HTTPS hostname before entering a credential; a search result or unexpected email is not a reliable login route. If the service does not identify a webmail address, ask Novasean support to confirm it. Do not assume webmail. plus your domain is configured.
Identify the exact virtual mailbox, such as name@example.com, and its actual mail provider. A DirectAdmin panel account, Novasean client-area account, system email account and virtual mailbox are different account contexts. On a direct Roundcube sign-in, use the mailbox identifier and credential specified for that service; check the complete address if the form expects one. Keep the password in your manager rather than copying it into a ticket.
Use the symptom to choose the next safe check
- Direct Roundcube form says login failed: confirm the provider, selected virtual mailbox and saved credential once. If you have changed the mailbox password, use the new value in a fresh session. If it still fails, follow the virtual-mailbox password guide or ask the authorised account owner to use the service’s verified reset route. Do not keep guessing.
- DirectAdmin’s one-click webmail link fails: where enabled, this feature signs a virtual mailbox into Roundcube without asking for its password. If a separate, known direct Roundcube login works, report the one-click route as the affected feature; resetting the mailbox password is not the first conclusion. The link can be absent or different on your service.
- Roundcube says the session is invalid or expired: try one fresh visit through the genuine HTTPS route, keeping one stable browser session. If the message repeats, record the exact wording and time for support. DirectAdmin documents possible server-side session, storage and configuration causes; customers on shared hosting should not edit temporary-directory permissions or PHP settings.
- Roundcube says it cannot connect to the storage server: this points to a mail-storage connection problem that the operator must diagnose. DirectAdmin documents several possible Dovecot, connection-limit and log conditions. Do not delete mailbox index files, restart mail services or assume that changing the password will restore access.
If Roundcube opens the mailbox but sending then fails, the login succeeded. Use the receive-but-not-send guide instead. If the DirectAdmin panel itself rejects your sign-in, use the panel-login guide.
Preserve mail and avoid unsafe workarounds
Do not delete and recreate a mailbox or mail-client account just to test a webmail error. A device may contain a local-only copy of messages or unsynchronised drafts. Do not disable TLS, bypass a certificate warning, expose a password in a screenshot, or turn off login protection. These actions can turn an access problem into a data-loss or security incident.
If another authorised mail client still works, leave it configured while the webmail issue is investigated. Its success helps narrow the affected route but does not prove that every mail function works. For a suspected compromise, use a trusted device and contact the account owner or service operator promptly rather than treating the event as an ordinary forgotten password.
Give support the evidence that separates the causes
Open a ticket through the authenticated client area. Include the affected service or domain, mailbox address, the exact webmail URL or hostname, whether you used the direct form or a one-click link, the exact redacted error text, and the time with time zone. Say whether another authorised mail client can receive mail and whether the DirectAdmin panel still opens. A screenshot is useful only after removing credentials, tokens and private message content.
Ask support to confirm which service hosts the mailbox and to check the appropriate webmail, authentication or storage path. Do not request or perform a server-level configuration change yourself on shared hosting. Keep the response in the same ticket so the tests and resolution stay together.
Frequently asked questions
Does a working DirectAdmin login mean my mailbox password is correct? No. Virtual mailboxes and panel accounts have different credentials.
Does one-click webmail prove my mailbox password works? No. DirectAdmin documents a one-click feature that can log in without entering that password, where enabled.
Should I reset my password if Roundcube says “connection to storage server failed”? Not as a first diagnosis. That message can reflect an operator-side storage connection fault; give support the exact error.
Can Novasean promise a specific webmail URL or recovery time? No general URL or recovery time follows from this guide. Use the address and support route for your accepted service.
